Hi, everyone,

November is here and the Montana Accessibility Interest Group will hold its monthly meeting on Friday, November 6th, from 10am - 11am MDT. We are fortunate to have Sue-Ann Ma join us this month to speak on complex image  accessibility. Sue-Ann is currently a Product Manager at the DIAGRAM Center, a research and development hub launched by Benetech and funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. Sue-Ann has been involved in a variety of collaborative projects at the DIAGRAM Center that are geared towards setting standards and providing tools to make digital  content and images accessible, particularly in the area of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). This includes authoring tools for images and mathematical equations, specifications for accessibility metadata, and training resources for creating  image descriptions. I’ve attended Sue-Ann’s presentations at the international CSUN Conference and know you’ll find her discussion of various resources (existing and in development) both useful and highly interesting.

We will meet again in Collaborate Ultra, Blackboard’s accessible web conferencing system that provides an improved user experience for everyone, including assistive technology users. This system functions properly in both Firefox and Chrome so make sure to log in with one of  these browsers on Friday.

Please use this Collaborate Ultra link to join the session: (

Attendees on the UM-Missoula campus are welcome to drop by the Innovation Studio (Todd 211) where we’ll have the webinar set up and running for you.

Thanks, everyone. I hope you can attend this important discussion!
