Understanding Experiences with Mental Illness and Customer Service

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) states that approximately 1 in 5 adults in the
United States experience mental illness. Knowing how to work with individuals with a mental
illness helps to create an inclusive campus community.
This workshop is designed for faculty, staff, and students that work with or encounter
individuals who experience mental illness. It will highlight understanding the dimensions of
experiences with mental illness. The presenters will share their personal experiences and
perspectives on what good or helpful customer service looks like for serving individuals with
